It is good to have a big budget to make all of your decor ideas come true, but it is not possible all the time. If you do good research and planning, you can improve your home design with a low budget. Here are some tips on how you can work on your home decor and interior even if you have a tight budget.

  • Make sure you know how much money you can actually spend. Set a target date to complete your projects and change your budget limit. Keep a clear vision so that you will not spend extra money during the process.
  • Decide on the style, color, theme and mood of your house or room. Stick to your decisions so you don't spend extra money on irrelevant things just because you like them.
  • Look closely at your rooms. It may be enough to get a new look to keep and rearrange some decoration and furniture. Or maybe you want to keep things where they are and add some accessories.
  • Check out your old stuff that you removed many years ago. The rug you hated ten years ago may actually look good in your new retro designed room. The gifts you did not like probably did not match your room's style, but maybe they will work well with your new style! Keep your mind and eyes wide open!
  • Painting the walls, using wallpaper for only one wall in a room, or just adding wall edges are all inexpensive ways to enhance your decor.
  • As fast and cost-effective solutions to illuminate rooms, you can use accessories such as mirrors, self-made artwork, pillows, throws, lamps, flowers and large vases.
  • You can buy used furniture and vintage items to save money.
  • Instead of buying expensive frames, create your own frame. Buy a cheap picture frame. Then cover it with your favorite cloth or with remaining wallpaper pieces. You can even use flowers, buttons, ribbons and other decorative materials.
  • Use decorative materials and furniture from garage sales, used stores and discount stores. You can also find interesting furniture and decor items from the discount corners in regular stores. They may not be perfect, but don't forget that you can fix them yourself, or just hide some flaws with a few tricks. Painting old furniture with some bright colors can give a whole new look to your room. If you can't do it yourself, ask for help from friends and family members. This can also serve as a nice activity to spend some time together. What a budget saver!
