Retro Bathrooms

If you are bored by yours bathroom designand want something more than just "classic and elegant" or "ultra modern", why not try the retro style? "Retro" means a culturally aged or outdated fashion or style, mostly from a few decades ago, which has become the norm again. Retro generally means a vintage of at least fifteen or twenty years. The nice thing about retro is that it gives back memories of times we can actually remember.

A retro style bathroom can give your house an interesting and sophisticated touch. When it comes to adding retro style to your décor, the decor ideas are many. Here are seven tips for you to create a cool retro bathroom design.

-Don't drive too much. Retro is risky if you use it too much. You do not need to change everything in your bathroom. Just add some retro touches to blend into the modern and functional bathroom.

-Buy neutral luminaires. You can easily replace bathroom rugs, small decorative elements and wall colors, but fixtures, sinks and bathtubs are used for many years. So don't buy anything you will regret in the future.

– Decide which era you like the most and choose colors accordingly. Or find what your existing colors in your bathroom look like. For example, it may be turquoise and light red in the 50s, or the pale yellow in the early sixties. What about the colors of the seventies? Different shades of green and peacock blue can look good.

– Find retro accessories. Instead of looking for retro-style accessories in the supermarket (which is a pretty low option), check your parents home or flea market. You can find old-style bowls, colorful bottles and shaving brushes that provide a retro style and can work as well.

– Check out the garage sale. You will be surprised to see how easy it is to find retro accessories and furniture at garage sales. What anyone else wants to get rid of can be a cheap stylish accessory for you!

-Use stickers. There are stickers made especially for bathrooms that do not peel away with moisture. For example, you can add a seventies feel with a decorative sticker with a seventies style.

– Take care of the artwork. So when you find artwork that fits into the retro style, make sure it is not affected by the steam and moisture in the bathroom. The artwork is probably already a bit old, so the heat and moisture can make it wear out faster than you think.
